CHARACTERS

Carl Johnson
Carl Johnson is almost certainly the main character in GTA San Andreas. Returning home after a 5 year break in Liberty City, Carl is back to attend his mothers funeral after she tragically died. When he returns home he is immediately reunited with his brother Sweet and his good friends Smoke and Ryder who are still a part of the crumbling Grove Street Families gang. With Carl's help they intend to regain power on the streets however he is reluctant to get drawn back into the gang lifestyle. Unfortunately he has no choice and begins his life again as a Los Santos gang member. Carl has a few family members close to him, mainly being his brother Sweet Johnson and his sister Kendl Johnson, however Carl also had a younger brother, Brian who was killed in a car accident and his mother Beverly Johnson who recently passed away.

Sean "Sweet" Johnson
The brother of Carl, and the main leader of the Grove Street Families, Sweet is fully behind getting drugs off the streets of Los Santos and also wants to make peace with a number of the gangs. Sweet and his sister Kendl are rarely seeing eye to eye and have common arguments about a number of things, such as the death of their mother Beverly.

Melvin "Big Smoke" Harris
A member of the Grove Street Families. Not the shot caller, but a powerful influence, especially over restaurant choice. Extremely overweight. Multiple arrests and convictions, but has never served a long jail sentence. Why not? Family background uncertain. Delusions of grandeur. Regards himself as potential savior and ruler of known universe.

Lance "Ryder" Wilson
Another member of the Grove Street families, and another important member. Ryder has been said to be the loose cannon of the Grove Street Families and doesn't take too kindly to Carl being offered all of the driving jobs in the early part of the game.

Old Reece
Reece is the owner of Reece's Barber shop. The place where Carl, and Idlewood residents will go each time they feel they need a change of style. Reece is a man who gives you what you ask for, and doesn't worry too much how you look. His crimes are many, but most of them are against fashion. A good source of information.

OG Loc
Wannabe Gangsta Rapper, Jeffery Martin has no criminal record. He does have some unpaid parking fines but is unlikely to be a threat. Do not, repeat do not listen to his music.


Mark "B-Dup" Wayne
Grove Street OG - B-Dup. Rumors suggest he has drifted apart from gang banging and into other activities. Allegations of false imprisonment and kidnapping of friends persist.

Madd Dogg
Madd Dogg is a Recording Artist and his problems with alcohol, cocaine and egomania persist. He raps a lot about being a gangster although he has no criminal record and no gang affiliation. He lives in his Vinewood Mansion and is never on the streets.


Maccer
Recording artist, hedonist, pleasure seeker in so many ways, Maccer has personified the Madchester scene for years. After a long career hiatus, caused by numerous legal disputes, Maccer is back, and this time, he's clean!

Two corrupt cops who frame Carl for homicide and try whatever it takes to stop the gang life in Los Santos and all over San Andreas.

Carl and Sweet's younger brother who was killed as a 10 year old in a car accident.

Tactics
Hold X and drive through each of the double buoys which will be to your right every time. You can hold R1 to turn a bit sharper, but I'd just recommend staying to the inside of the buoys and even out the boat so you're always heading straight for the next lot. The last two will require a sharp ish turn, but it should definitely be possible to do in less than 30 seconds.

Similar to the last objective, this requires you to make your way through a course of buoys as quickly as possible. The first few can be done normally, just make sure you start turning just before you get there and you'll cut through it saving a few seconds, but about half way around you'll need to use an R1 turn to keep up the speed. Follow the track all of the way around and speed through the last two buoys to complete the course.

Description
Power towards the jump ramp and land within the parallel buoys to register a valid jump.

Tactics
From the start, make your way to the right and head towards the bridge. Just before you get there, turn around and speed towards the yellow blips on your radar. Holding the left analog stick forward slightly seems to work the same way as a bike and give you a slight speed boost. Drive into the ramp, then hold down on the analog stick and you'll jump further. You need 55M + for Bronze, and around 69M for Gold.

Description
Navigate through the center of each pair of buoys in as quick a time as possible.

The course is pretty simple, but you need to go almost as fast as humanly possible to get Gold, so you should use the techniques you learned in the previous objectives in order to get through the buoys as quickly as possible. Firstly use your radar to see where the current and next buoys are, they sort of dot around all over the place, so be prepared for them. Remember to use R1 to turn sharply, and remember to keep to the inside of the buoy and start making the turn before you get to it and you should be able to get around in under 130 seconds for Gold.

Takeoff
Description
Press and hold X to accelerate along the runway. When the plane's tail rises, pull back on the left analog stick to lift the nose and take off.

Tactics
The first mission is always going to be easy. In fact the great thing about the flying school is that they are all easy if you can fly a plane. Obviously you need to do these missions to get good at them, but say if you're starting a new game, it's incredibly easy to get all gold. Anyway, all you need to do is hold X until you see the back of the plane lift off the ground, then pull back on the analog stick slightly so the plane is going up at about a 45º angle. Hit R3 to retract the landing gear, then fly straight towards the corona. From there push the analog stick forwards and dive down slightly towards the next corona, then pull it back again and head to the final corona. This doesn't require turning one bit, so if you don't go straight the whole time, you're doing something wrong.

This again requires no turning, so just hold X from the start, aim slightly forwards so you drop down and pass through the corona, then level out the plane so that you're flying low, but straight over the runway. Hit R3 to bring down the landing gear, then hold square in periods of about half a second on, then half a second off. You should be almost stopped before reaching the red circle, and if you land just in front of it, you should carry into it. As long as you're mostly in the circle you'll get 100% for position score.

Follow the same instructions from the first objective, drive forwards, pull back on the stick when you see the back end of the plane lift off, then pull up the landing gear with R3. Ignore the message telling you to use L2 and R2 to turn, they are pretty useless. Instead, just use the analog stick to turn to the right (or left, depending on which course you chose). Once you're facing directly towards the corona, use the analog stick the other way to try and balance out the plane. Then you'll need to make a series of left turns flying through the coronas. You can pull back on the analog stick as you turn to turn a lot sharper, but you shouldn't really need that for this. Just gently fly through the coronas and get used to levelling out the plane and when you cross the dam, the nearest checkpoint to the airfield will be the last.

Bring down the landing gear and try to fly straight along the runway, quite low, if possible. As you start to get about half way, hold square on and off like from before and try to touch down just before the red marker. Stopping anywhere inside it will give you the position score, but you'll need to make sure you land the plane smoothly, because if you decrease at too much of an angle, you'll damage it and lose some percent.

Just before you get to it, pull back on the analog stick which will sort of work like a brake, and can usually result in you stopping right over the red circle where you just need to hold square to drop to the ground. Your time is quire short, but by using the pull back technique instead of the L3 hover technique, you can cut about 5 seconds off your time.

This is also rather easy, maybe it's just because of previous helicopter experience, but either way there shouldn't be too much difficulty with this, apart from maybe blowing up the cars. When you start, just fly along the runway the same way as you did to land before, only just as you see the trucks, either try to lower the front end of the helicopter and fire rockets by pushing circle, or hold L1 to fire the machine gun. While the machine gun takes longer, it almost has an auto-aim which means that the bullets will usually be aimed at the nearest vehicle, so if you cant hit anything with the rockets, use the guns. Once you've taken out the three trucks, you'll need to make a 180 and head towards the top left of the airfield where you'll need to take out two cars. These are moving and will probably be easier with the machine gun. Just hover near them and hold L1 until they both blow up. After that you'll need to fly back to the runway and land in the red marker which isn't hard if you did it the same way as before. You'll need to try and land straight in the red circle though, or you'll lose position score, so rotate with L2 or R2.

I'd advise not actually doing the backflip until you are about halfway through both coronas so that you don't have as far to go while trying to level out.

The barrel roll is a lot easier if you are going up while doing it. I don't understand why, but it makes it a lot easier to balance out as you go through the last corona.

This is arguably the hardest objective at this school. You need to make pretty much 5 perfect laps around the small track without crashing or spinning out once. For gold you'll need to finish it in under 36 seconds, which is really only possible if you bend the rules a bit. Knocking over a cone will not give you a damage penalty, but smashing them will. If you carefully make a sharp corner, you can knock the end cones slightly inwards, which makes the actual course a bit smaller. You'll still have to skid at the right time in order to turn around as sharply as possible, but the overturned cones can take about half a second off each lap. When skidding around the corner use R1 and Square which will keep you from spinning out, then hold X as soon as you're around and speed forward, then skid again at the next corner. You need to keep attempting this until you get a perfect run, and if you actually manage it, pray that you get less than 36 seconds for gold. This one was probably the only school mission out of them all which I actually got frustrated with and couldn't do for a long time.

Once it's gone all of the way around you'll need to pull to the right and try to stop with the front of your car touching the back of the other one. When actually making contact with the car, make sure you're pretty much just pushing it's back end out, not smashing into it because you can't do any damage to the vehicle for gold.

From the start, head to the right and follow the road down past the garage. Stay in the middle of the tram tracks and keep going all of the way until you get to the top of the steep ish hill. Make a right just at the top of the hill and cut the corner then head down the slight slope and make a left. You'll need to brake here and go down the steep, curving street where you'll be able to crab the checkpoint. From here head out to the right and speed along the relatively easy road under the bridges and towards the docks at Easter Basin. Make your way around the corner and pass the Xoomer Gas Station, then cut across the grass just past that and get back onto the road. Follow it forward and enter the tunnel to the left and follow that all of the way back up to the main road. Get back on the tracks and speed along past the garage again, then get to the top of the hill and speed to the right into the checkpoint. This is definitely possible in under 120 seconds, but to get gold you'll need under 100 seconds and no damage. You'll probably have to try this a few times until you get lucky with the traffic, but once you know the best route to take it's not hard apart from trying to avoid collisions.

The best way to land it is to pull back on the analog stick, but if you pull the jump right you can actually just land on the front wheel and stop in about a second in the right place. There's nothing you can do to be sure of completing this one 100%, so you'll just have to keep trying the jump and see if you can get the hang of balancing out the stoppie.

Start the race and drive the Phoenix to your garage in Doherty get out and walk

time to run out, Exit the race tournament screen and go to your garage and
